Its Really Something
For years Katie had been criticizing herself about her weight and body appearance. Then one summer came her thirteenth birthday, she denied herself to eat cake but her parents forced her to. Finally one day her friends confronted her saying that she was not fat and sometimes they would say stuff like"You are so skinny that we can count your ribs." That made her mad. Katie's parents got very worried and took her to a doctor. After all the check-ups the doctor told her family that she had the case of anorexia. Hearing the doctor Katie went home and checked up anorexia. When she found out what it means to have anorexia she was not at all scared. She said,"I'd rather die skinny than fat." But her case got to a very bad situation. Katie threw up five times a day, faint for long periods of time and get some pink fuzz all over her body. Everyday for the next two years Katie's parents have tried to shove food down her throat or always yell at her about why she was not eating. But this hit Katie's mom the hardest, she would find her mom sobbing on her bed and that made Katie cry too. Katie went to a supermarket one day and in a magazine she saw a story on anorexia. This forty year old woman had anorexia for five years but then she started eating again. Though she ate her body was still very, very skinny. Katie got scared- then some months late very slowly she began to eat. Later on Katie could not believe that she had over come anorexia and hung on for her dear life. Now as Katie looks back she is proud of her accomplishment.

365 Days
Kelly had a very rough two years of middle school until 8th grade came around. One day, their gym teacher was lecturing all the kids about sportsmanship, guidelines, and the dress code. Then she started announcing gym partners. Everyone started glancing around at their friends. When Kelly's name came around she was assigned to the most popular girl in 8th grade. Everyone was utterly shocked. Days went by and the two them used to have conversations like "Is this your sock or mine?" But later as they saw more of each other, they became closer and talked about other interesting things. Then came their freshman year of high school. During summer break Kelly spent everyday at the pool, the mall, or with her friends. As they began going to school her popular friends made her do things she didn't like. Finally, one day, she sat with some other group of friends than the popular ones. Instead of spending all her time at the mall, pool, or her popular friends houses she joined the choir and planned picnics with her new friends. Kelly had made a wise choice in her freshman year in high school because her new friends are still her friends till this very day.
Beautiful all Along
Marisa's biggest wish was to be beautiful. She had her birthday wish to be beautiful, whenever she saw shooting stars and when she passed by a well she would toss a coin in the well for the same wist to come true. For the past two years Marisa would always cry herself to sleep. She hated her family and would never go out anywhere or on shopping trips with friends. Everyone in school teased her about her dressing style and how she did her hair. But half a year later miraculously she found her beautiful self underneath all the hate and self-consciousness she had built over the years. She became more social with friends and family. Since her self-esteem became higher her grades went up a with her excellent performance. She also became active in sports and enjoyed herself in all the activities she participated in. Of course there were some bad days but that did not keep her from shining. To those people who thought she was the same old self as before she would reply "Though I won't be the next Julia Roberts or Marilyn Monroe I will be beautiful to me."

I don't talk to my closest friend
I don't talk to my Closest Friend
Melissa remembered her Spanish counselor introducing her to Ellen, a girl from Sweden. Looking at her Melissa tried to introduce herself in broken English. When Melissa greeted Ellen she just put her pale hand, barely understanding anything. After a few days Melissa found out that Ellen's English was not that great. Everyone thought that they would not become good friends because of their poor communication in English. But, all their guesses were wrong. They were the best of friends. They would walk through the woods and not talk but enjoy each others company. As days went on Melissa had to go back to Honduras because of some family issues. But they both were determined to get better at English, and they did. They wrote to each other every week and told what was happening with themselves. Their future goal was to someday meet in the future.

Relief
Relief
This story is about a sixteen year old girl who works at a local restaurant. One day she had gone to a late night party without her mother's permission. Her mother found out and they got into a big fight. Though they had frequent mother daughter fights this one was brutal. Kathryn was very upset and a little depressed and all she would do is sleep before work then cry and then get back to sleep after work. This regular behavior made her mother very angry and one day she screamed at her about how she was not part of the family with this type of behavior and that her snapping against her colleagues was very negative. Kathryn's mother got fed up and told her to write an apology note to her saying sorry for what she had done and was continuing to do. After receiving a piece of paper she thought about how her colleagues at work were distancing themselves from her. When she finished writing the note to her mother she placed it on her pillow. The next day when she went to the bathroom for a shower she saw a note on the mirror from her mom. It said that her mom would help her and that she knew that Kathryn was scared. When she got in that shower tears came out, but this time it was tears if relief and not of sadness.
